Our First #GetRAOKT Video

It finally happened! After months of planning and working hard to get things organized Jessica and I were finally able to make our first #GetRAOKT video and do our first Random Act of Kindness for the very deserving Yogi Omar!

Yogi is an amazing spirit to be around. He's always looking for ways to help others and taking the time for those who others usually just pass by. For his last birthday Yogi had a fundraiser for Out In Schools which raised just under $4000 for the organization. He's also an active member for the VQFF (Vancouver Queer Film Festival) which he challenged people last festival to raise a certain amount and he offered to match the amount raised dollar for dollar, what an amazing person. Yogi truly is an inspiration and as you'll see in the video has many more stories to share.

For our first act of kindness Jessica and I wanted to start off with a bang, do something really over the top! What better than a helicopter ride!? Neither of us had ever been before and if I tell the truth, neither of us are all that fond of heights either...haha...but we made it out alive! Through the kindness of the people at Helijet we were able to organize this special treat for Yogi as a thank you for all the good things he does for the Vancouver community. Helijet has 5 locations all over British Columbia offering scheduled services all year long including sight seeing tours like the one we went on. The BIGGEST thank you goes out to Helijet for helping us make this happen.

It just goes to show that you don't need a lot of money to make a difference. If you arm yourself with determination and a burning desire to do good in the world, anything can happen!

Check out what happened during our adventure with Yogi!
