24 Days Until the Launch of #GetRAOKT

September 1st is quickly approaching and that can only mean one thing, it's time for North America to #GetRAOKT! Jessica and I are working our tails off to save and we couldn't be more excited! Soon we will be embarking on the adventure of a life time with the intention of inspiring a new generation of people to lend a hand and get involved in their communities. Plans have slowly been slipping into place with couches to stay on in Calgary, Oklahoma City and even Little Rock in Arkansas! The volunteer work is starting to come together as we get closer to the date and Jessica is constantly in contact with organizations to see where our help is most needed.

Hot dog anyone?
It's pretty daunting to think that for the next year we'll be on the road depending greatly on the kindness of strangers. I feel like after the first month or two we'll have some good traction and be more in the flow of how things will go, but it's still nerve racking. I'm very excited to meet new friends and hear all the amazing stories they'll have to share. I have no idea what the universe has in store for us but I do know it's going to be amazing.

I've had many people tell me that they think I'm brave/crazy/fearless as well as many other thing but I don't think of it in that way. I'm just doing what I know I need to do in order to feed my soul and spirit while I'm here. We only have so much time on this earth and I'm going to do whatever it takes to make it amazing for not only myself but the people I come in contact with. I also have to say that I'm a bit fearful about what we're about to embark on but there will always be fear. I love this quote by Nelson Mandela because it's so true, the fear is always there but you can always triumph over it: “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

Love Life and be Kind to one another
As we travel around this amazing continent I will be using my blog as a journal. I was thinking of also keeping a paper one but last time I backpacked Europe I heard story after story of people loosing theirs or getting them stolen and I just don't want to risk that. I will do my best to keep it up to date with fresh photos and posts as well as videos. I invite you to comment and send me letters with ideas you might have or things you want to see on the blog. Also be sure to check out my new Get Interactive area which I'll be checking in on constantly while on the road.

Sometimes we wake up and decide that life is just to damn short to live it for someone else. I hope that every single one of you reading this can find the courage within yourself to move towards achieving your dreams. If we all help each other do it then it's a lot less daunting and a lot more fun. You do have the power within you, you just have to acknowledge it and make it happen.
