My 30 Day Challenge: Day 1

For the next 30 days I am challenging myself to write a blog post for Discovering Your Truth every day. I invite you all to join me on this adventure and please feel free to share my stories with your friends so that others can join in. I have no idea what will come of this or what to expect but here goes!

Love Yourself. I always come back to this but it really is the key point that has gotten me to this point in my life. When I was younger I suffered from low self esteem. I didn’t believe I was worth it, whatever “it” was. There were forces in my life that were constantly putting me down and making me believe that I was “less than” and didn’t deserve the things I wanted. Well I’m here to say that you are worth it and you do deserve whatever it is you want from life. It’s so easy for us to let others dictate our lives for us, to let people walk all over us and tell us who we are, but why? We are the only ones who know deep down inside who we truly are and the things we want from life. I’m not going to lie and say that it was easy getting out of that pit and trudging uphill to get to where I am today but I will say it was well worth the cardio. I was so done with letting others tell me who I was that I finally turned around and started telling them who I was. I made the conscious decision to change my life for the better and make what I wanted a reality. All you have to do is make a decision, small or big, and follow through with it. Maybe today is the day you finally stop saying “I totally want to try yoga,” and you just go out and take a class! What’s stopping you from taking that step and doing that thing you clearly want to do? Because if it’s something that will bring you joy and happiness then it can’t be bad for you. The only reason you would stop yourself from doing something your heart is calling you to do is because of someone else, and that’s not alright. You need to clear out all the clutter in your brain from what other people have said and get right down to your core of what YOU say. If you love yourself, like everyone should, then the simple choice would be to take the yoga class even if your friend said they tried it and that it was a waste of time and money. Be your own decision maker and take the class yourself so that you know for sure how you feel about it. Maybe you will fall in love so much so that you take steps towards becoming a yoga instructor and then it leads to this amazing life full of heath and joy you didn't even know existed. Now you would have never discovered that had you not loved yourself enough to make up your own mind and take that first step. Life is full of funny little choices like that and it’s up to you, not anyone else, to decide what you’re going to do with them. I choose the path of self love and with everything I do in life I always check in with myself to make sure that I am the one who truly wants to take that step and that no one else has forced me to do it. So be sure to love yourself, because once you make that choice your life can start reflecting the positive choices you make and you’ll know that you made them.

Positive Affirmation of the Day: “I love myself enough to stand strong and make my own decisions.”
